In January 2008 the first team of international volunteers travelled to Cocos Island, a remote and isolated Marine National Park 560km off the coast of Costa Rica.
The team worked in accordance with the UNDP, and undertook tasks such as the eradication of all invasive non-indigenous species, the patrolling of the islands´ protected waters to remove illegal fishing devices and deter illegal fishermen, and making the necessary changes to the faclities to comply with Costa Rican Environmental Laws.
